About

6 years of study.

I hold a BHSc and an MHSc in Chiropractic from the University of Johannesburg: four full-time years, then two more at master's level, which is what the AHPCSA requires before a chiropractor can register.

Dr Hattingh strives to be the best chiropractor in Klerksdorp.

My care is evidence-based and practical. I explain what I find in plain language, treat what needs treating, and refer you on when something needs another professional.

I became a chiropractor to help people. I have a special interest in musculoskeletal pain, and I love working with people: helping them get healthier, move properly and enjoy life to the fullest.

First appointment

What happens in your first hour

Your first appointment is booked for 60 minutes so nothing is rushed. We start by talking: where it hurts, when it started, what you've tried and what you need to get back to.

Then comes the examination. I check how you move, test the joints and muscles involved, and run nerve and orthopaedic tests to rule out anything that needs a different kind of care.

If treatment is appropriate, you'll get it that day. You leave knowing what's wrong, how many appointments it's likely to take, and what to do at home.

Wear comfortable clothes, and bring any scans, X-rays or reports you have, plus your medical aid card.

Lower back

Back pain: when to wait and when to book

Most lower back pain settles within a few weeks. Keeping gently active helps it settle faster than bed rest does.

Book an assessment if:

  • it hasn't improved after a week or two
  • pain travels down your leg, or you have pins and needles
  • it keeps coming back
  • it stops you working, sleeping or training

Seek urgent medical care if you have numbness in the groin area, trouble controlling your bladder or bowel, or leg weakness that is getting worse.

Desk work

Five small changes for a sore desk neck

  • Raise your screen so the top edge sits at eye level.
  • Bring the keyboard close enough that your elbows rest by your sides.
  • Stand up or walk for a minute every 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Use your phone at eye height instead of looking down at your lap.
  • Do ten slow chin tucks a few times a day.

No single posture is perfect. Changing position often matters more than finding the right one.

Online

What an online consult can do for you

An online appointment is a 30-minute video call. We go through your symptoms, history and daily habits, and I guide you through simple movement checks on camera.

You get a clear opinion and a personal plan: exercises, mobility work, desk and lifting advice, and guidance on getting back to sport.

It works well for rehab follow-ups, second opinions and people who live far away. There is no hands-on treatment, and if I think you need an in-person examination, I'll tell you.

FAQ

Before you book.

How long is a first appointment?

The Initial Consultation is booked for 60 minutes. It starts with your history, then the examination and tests, then treatment.

Do I need a referral?

No. Chiropractors in South Africa are primary contact practitioners, so you can book directly.

Do you accept medical aid?

Yes. In-person appointments are R1000 cash, or R1177 if we submit the claim to your medical aid for you. Bring your medical aid card to your first appointment. How much you get back depends on your plan.

Which treatment will I get?

That depends on what the examination shows. It may include spinal or joint adjustments, mobilisation, dry needling, soft-tissue work and a set of rehab exercises. I'll explain each one before we start.

Is chiropractic safe?

For most people, yes. The full history and examination at your first appointment are there to make sure it's the right care for you. If it isn't, I'll refer you to someone who can help.

Can I see you without coming in?

Yes. Online Appointments are 30 minutes over video, with advice and exercises you can do from home. There's no hands-on treatment.

What happens at a follow-up?

A 45-minute session: we re-check how you've responded, treat, progress your exercises and plan the next step.

Start with the first hour.

A thorough history, a proper examination and a plan you can follow. Book online, or WhatsApp me on 083 295 5015.
